Piazza Garibaldi is located at the entrance of the town, before the bridge. It was built in the early 19th century, when the bridge was made . Before being paved, the square was made of clay. In the old days they used to have a fair there for large animals such as cows and horses. They told us that when they had to buy or sell an animal there was the mediator who agreed between the seller and the buyer, and when they shook hands it meant the deal was done, without any written contract.
Today there is a market every Monday. There are festivals such as the Trout Festival and the Festival of Forgiveness.
To the left of the square is a row of old houses that were built at the same time, they are leaning against the rock. On the ground floor of the houses were the craftsmen’s workshops: the blacksmith, an artisan working with iris, a bicycle repairman…On the right there is a long wall, under which the Ciuffenna stream flows . At the top is the oldest building in the square, it belonged to a family of spice and silk merchants; they had a farm. Nearby is a stone archway from 1875. Above it there is the old road to Mulinaccio.
